Herb Duncan,
Founder of NexLev Health and Fitness

Herb Duncan loves what he does. He’s one of the lucky few who has found his passion: to help others enhance their overall health to live a richer life. He does this every day through his work as founder of NexLev Health and Fitness.

In his 20-plus years in the profession, Herb has designed hundreds of programs for individuals suffering from type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and weight management. His clients include physicians, professional athletes, movie personalities and fitness-minded people concerned about general health.

Herb has served as a fitness expert for ABC 15 News, The Arizona Republic and a variety of fitness seminars in Phoenix. He was also a featured fitness column writer for the Ahwatukee Foothills News for several years.

Herb is a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, has five years of boxing experience and four years experience in Brazilian Jiu jitsu.

Love for Personal Training
Herb began his training career with professional athletes. But it was his own mother’s interest in improving her health and fitness level that prompted him to bring the proven, science-based personal training approach to anyone interested in being in the best shape they can be for their everyday life. Herb has worked with everyone from professional athletes interested in upping their game to someone needing to recuperate from an injury to moms interested in keeping fit and active. Whatever your fitness goal, Herb’s technical understanding of the human body’s function and his genuine interest in helping you achieve your goals make him your ideal personal trainer.

Certifications
Herb received his certification as a personal trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a global leader in providing evidence-based certifications and advanced credentials to health and fitness professionals. He also has a personal training certification from APEX in 1999. And although Herb wouldn’t offer services without these industry certifications, it’s his in-depth knowledge of the science of the human body that make him the trainer that will take you and your fitness to the next level.

Education and Background Experience
Prior to his work as a certified personal trainer, Herb spent six years in the Arena Football League and was a member of the Arizona Rattlers 1997 championship team. Before joining the Rattlers, Herb played for the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Eskimos and the National Football League’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who drafted him out of college.

Herb received his bachelor’s degree in communications from Northern Arizona University in 1989 where he played football and ran track.
