The Top 8 Healthy Lifestyle Choices

The good news is it’s never too late to make healthful lifestyle changes. Each of the next 8 items listed have one dynamic thing in common: They are all under YOUR control.

 

 

 

You see this time and time again. People looking real cool in your favorite movie or at social gatherings but the fact never changes. As cool as it might look and feel  the truth is still the truth. DON’T SMOKE! Smoking kills 400,000 Americans every single year. Choosing not to smoke is without a doubt the single most important health decision you can make. 

 

 

Just 15 years ago you had to look around tofind an obese person. Not anymore! Just go to your favorite mall and look around! Now you have to look around to find a thin person. And the scary thing is it’s getting worse! And its not a genetic problem like most are told these days. CONTROL YOUR WEIGHT! Obesity is now responsible for approximately 350,000 deaths a year and growing.

 

 

 

 Lets go get  drunk. These are common words by most club enthusiastic. Hip or not. Alcoholism is a major killer. Fact is most people fall to per pressure more then anything. To tell people to stop drinking and they will listen is just plain nuts but again it doesn’t change the truth about this drug. DRINK IN MODERATION (if at all). Approximately 10% of all people who start to drink socially will become alcoholics. Moderation means just 1 or 2 drinks a day at most.

 

 

 

Most people think in order to workout this means hours at the gym. Not so! Just as little as 3 hours a week. Well, let me put that another way. There are 168 hrs in one week alone. Most spend many of those hours doing the wrong thing for his or her body. Do yourself a minor favor that will keep you in good health for a long time. Give your body just 3 of those 168hrs and watch what happens. EXERCISE REGULARLY! This alone will reduce many risks of diseases and greatly extend your life..

 

 

So you don’t get a check up? Well most do they just wait until it’s too late. Arrange for a regular cholesterol and blood pressure screening and men get your prostate checked. If you jump on these early and visit the doc regularly you can detect major problems before they get started and that includes two of the most dangerous, colon and prostate cancer. Do it sooner rather then later and you have a chance while they are still curable. GET A REGULAR CHECK UP! 

 

You hear this one all the time and most people let it go with a grain of salt. DRINK WATER! Your body is 70% water. Yet most folks just wait until its just entirely too late. Something as simple as this can cut your chance of things like a heart attack by a whopping 45%. Water is available almost everywhere and anywhere and the fact that a person doesn’t get just the minimum a day is beyond me. Nothing can be easier then drinking water. 

 

Boy this one gets me all the time, “Carb’s cause fat”, what’s it going be next?! Six years ago these money-grubbing fad diets said fats cause weight gain. Now it’s Carbs.  Pretty soon one will say water causes fat. Do yourself a favor, if a diet says to eliminate a nutrient that your body absolutely can’t do without in order to function properly, keep right on moving.  You are what you eat! Your body needs all three: Proteins, Fats and Carbs in different percentages daily. Problem is most people eat bad sources of all three not just one (carbs) and eat way too much! Remember this next time you super size that burger meal. You just ate a bad source of Protein, Fats, Carbs and you just over ate….again! EAT FROM GOOD NUTRITIONAL SOURCES! Learn the difference! Leave the processed foods full of chemicals where they belong on the on the shelf and eat smaller meals more frequently.  

 

People always trying to get a tan. Got news for you, not good! The truth is your skin cancer chances really increase. And this includes those goofy lamp tans. If you are going to do it USE SUNSCREEN! The fact is people should put on a real good sun screen with at least 15 SPF and this should be done daily. Especially for us Arizonians! If done daily this will prevent most common skin cancers.

 

 

Americans need to understand the little things cause major problems. Make your health number one in your life. It’s the only one you got! What’s the use of having a million dollars if you are gone tomorrow because of something you could have prevented today. It doesn’t take much. Treat your body like you treat that nice car of yours or those new clothes you just bought or those new nails you just paid for. Don’t be cheap to your health and your body will serve you well. Be cheap and you will pay the harsh consequences that all the money in the world can’t fix.
